Best & Co.; Nightingale & Co.; Willikam Chenery & Co.; Edward Racker; Griffith & Jeffrey and Francis Riley, Haynesfield Plantation, St. John, originally known as the "Baldricks Estate," and now known as Wakefield, was bought by General Robert Haynes from the executors of Robert Trotman's will in 1804 for 19,000 pounds. In 1810 General the Hon. Robert Haynes sold to Henry Sealy of St. John for £18,000 "Haynesfield Plantation" - 178 acres - to provide some of the capital to buy Clifton Hall. Subsequent owners were: Edmund Haynes, William Sharp and the Hon. Grant Elcock Thomas. Edmund Haynes had contributed to the building of the Mount Tabor Moravian Church. There was a perpetual charge of £1000 on the pltn to pay an annuity of £60 to Mount Tabor Church. |
